A former coworker of mine has BYE GAS on his S. Model 3 purchasers seem less into this, but maybe all the anti-gas/pro-electricity plates are taken at this point.

All of the ill-will I feel for Tesla s and their owners is the result of everyone buying them thinking it’s the unorthodox choice of car, but then getting a custom plate about electricity like every other fucking owner .

Yeah unless they are charging off PV on their house ect.. they are full of shit. I am near SF, these people are even more smug than the Prius people were. The fuel cell people don’t put stickers on their cars or get smug plates.

People actually buy fuel cell vehicles?!

Yeah we have a bunch of the Toyotas. I actually did the Toyota booth for the auto show and we had a couple Mirai. A lot of professor scientist types get them, UC Berkeley etc.. One guy worked at NASA in the past and loved that it used a fuel cell, which they used in some early spacecraft.

I’m surprised that one of those is an Illinois plate. They have special plates here for electric cars (starting with EL) at a discount to the whopping $100 registration fee. And I have *never* seen one of those EL plates that was a vanity.
I love the fact that we don’t have much of this nonsense here.

That sort of clientele doesn't surprise me. I can't picture anyone else, other than government agencies buying or leasing them.

Eh, even on 100% coal there’s benefits, and nobody’s on 100% coal.
And in some areas, you can be on an electric tariff that purchases renewable energy credits to offset your usage. (So, the actual energy going into the car may be sourced from non-renewables, but someone was paid for putting renewable energy onto the grid. And, if enough customers consume renewable energy credits, renewable generation and storage has to be added to the grid.)
